Durban North found on the northern bank of the Umgeni River Mouth is the up-market residential zone of Durban.

Stretching up to Umhlanga, most of this beautiful part of the world was once a coastal dune forest system of which there are still clearly parts preserved. What was once a sprinkling of cottages, hotels and guest houses is today a thriving suburb and the playground those those that come here for the pristine beaches, hotels and sophisticated shopping malls.

Mini Town:
Situated on Durban's Golden Mile you will find Mini Town, a scale model replica of Durban which is open daily. Catering mostly for Children, Mini Town is made up of exact replicas of Durbans best known buildings and tourist attractions, at 1/24th of the real size. Model Trains run on the miniature railway line, planes taxi at the airport and strains of music emit from the opera house.

uShaka Marine World:
uShaka Marine World is a world-class marine-based theme park at the Point Waterfront precint in Durban. The creation of the 5th largest aquarium in the world (by volume of water) has made this a must-see, world-class entertainment and tourism destination in Durban and South Africa. Tastefully themed this combination of salt water aquarium, freshwater park and much more should not be missed.

Umgeni River Bird Park:
Just north of the Umgeni River in Durban is the Umgeni River Bird Park. Walk-through aviaries, birds out on perches, wonderful green vegitation as well as amazing waterfalls and rock faces makes the Umgeni River Bird Park one of the greatest attractions to the city of Durban. Be sure not to miss the "Free Flight Bird Show" where Critically endanged species are seen in free unrestricted flight.

Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve:
This is a 76 hectare reserve with the largest population of mangrove trees in the Durban Area. Used as a Nature Conservation Education Centre where the black mangrove, red mangrove and white mangrove may be seen. Some of the noteable birdlife includes the Mangrove Kingfisher, Curlew and the Water Kikkop while in the evenings the Natal Nightjar can sometimes be heard.
