Regional Profile: Westville
Westville is well known as a quiet upmarket suburb that encapsulates a business centre with prestigious office parks attracting major companies and professional firms. Bounded by the N3 and M19 highways, Westville offers easy access to Pinetown, Durban and beyond.
Historically, Westville was the first western borough of “Greater Durban”, between the suburb of Sherwood and the industrial areas of Pinetown.
It was named after Sir Martin West, Lieutenant –Governor of Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal Province) in the mid-19th Century, upon who’s farm the borough of Westville now stands.
Westville has always served as a gentrified, slower paced suburb of Durban – possibly because of it’s history as farming land during the early 1920's, and it is here that the people head for a tranquil suburban lifestyle. A bustling part of the Inner West council, Westville boasts a variety of shopping centres, office parks, restaurants and much more.

Palmiet Nature Reserve:
Officially opened in September 1972 the Palmiet Nature Reserve has seen many visitors over thousands of years with a Stone Age implement found here dating as old as 40,000 years or more.
